Keeping Up with the Kardashians helped Khloé Kardashian to come to terms with her father’s untimely death in an unexpected way.

The show premiered in 2007, four years after Robert Kardashian Sr. died at age 59 from esophageal cancer. Khloé, who was 19 at the time of her father’s death, shared on the Wednesday, April 23 episode of her Khloé in Wonderland podcast that she felt “incredibly angry” about Robert’s death for “about three years” afterward.

While filming season 1 of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Khloé claimed a producer made her film an interview talking about her dad.

“I was so annoyed at this producer,” Khloé recalled of filming the moment. “I was like, ‘Why are they making me sit in this dark room and talk about something I don’t wanna talk about?’“

However, the experience provided an unexpected result for the reality star.

“It was as if a house got lifted off of me after that conversation,” she shared. “I was kicking and screaming while doing it, but as soon as I had that conversation — that was the last time that I cried when talking about my dad, in a bad way.”

The interview allowed the mother of two to “let go of all of this guilt and anger,” adding, “Now I can talk about my dad with smiles and happiness and admiration and understanding.”

Khloé noted that she’s now “at peace” with her father’s death more than 20 years later and can often feel his presence in her life.

The Hulu star isn’t shy about her grief journey when it comes to her late father. In February 2024, she shared a touching video of photos with her dad, set to audio about “holding space” for a loved one.

“This audio can be viewed as sad or beautiful,” Khloé wrote on Instagram at the time. “I choose beauty. I am not sad anymore. Of course I miss him every single day and wish he were here to meet our babies but I’m not sad. In fact, I feel blessed that I was chosen to have 19 years with the most incredible Man I have ever known. Some people never get that. We did!”
