George Kambosos has branded Liam Paro “un-Australian” – and jealous of his successes – after the hyped No Limit signing revealed he’s backing ‘Ferocious’ to get kayoed in his upcoming IBF super lightweight bout in New York.
Two of the biggest names in Australian boxing are suddenly at war this week, with Kambosos slamming Paro on Instagram after the 29-year-old questioned his credentials as a world class fighter.
The drama kicked off on Thursday morning following a press conference to announce Paro’s No Limit debut against American Jonathan Navarro in Cairns on June 25.

The headliner will sit atop a card also boasting the likes of Liam Wilson, Callum Peters and Kirra Ruston.
During the press conference inside Fox Sports Studios, Paro was asked about a variety of topics by Main Event host Ben Damon, including Kambosos’s chances in his upcoming bout against IBF champ Richardson Hitchins.
“I’ll be putting money for George not to see the final bell,” he replied.
Soon after that comment went live on social media, Kambosos responded.
“How unAustralian,” the former champ wrote in a direct shot at Paro’s wagering reveal.
“Good to see your real colours mate.
“I backed you like I back every Aussie, I guess (you) got jealous, signed with a bunch of cowboys and the real hate comes out.
“No wonder you unfollowed me.
“Good for you guys. God bless.”

Incredibly, it was only last year that Paro was himself being talked up for an all-Australian blockbuster against Kambosos after, in June, winning the IBF crown in a huge boilover against Puerto Rica’s Subriel Matias.
However the proposed headliner disappeared only six months later, when the Queenslander then lost said title in a heartbreaking split decision against Hitchins.
Yet now readying for his hyped return, Paro says he is confident that a win over Navarro (18-1) will see him fighting for a second world title as soon as this year – and potentially on homesoil.
Speaking with Fox Sports Australia after the press conference concluded – and before the online drama exploded – Paro stressed he sees no future between himself and that man who shocked the world against Teofimo Lopez in 2021.
Should Kambosos win, there is little doubt No Limit look to revive talks between the pair, however Paro is tipping ‘Ferocious’ to either be stopped or lose “a 12 round shut out”.
“Because I don’t think George has the power to hurt him,” he said.
“And we’ve seen with Hitchins, he’s very aggressive after discovering you aren’t a threat for him.
“George, he isn’t a big bloke.
“But Hitchins is huge for that division.
“And I personally think while Hitchins isn’t known to be a big puncher, he might just get it done within the distance.”

Elsewhere, Paro also suggested Kambosos “struggled” in his most recent fight against Queenslander Jake Wyllie, who was called up as a late replacement for their Qudos Bank Arena showcase.
He added the decision win also followed a tough three years that had seen Kambosos lose twice to American Devin Haney, get stopped by Vasyl Lomachenko and earn a contentious decision win over Englishman Maxi Hughes.
Quizzed on the pair throwing down anytime soon, Paro replied: “Given how I think George will go in this next fight against Hitchins, he’s going to have to build himself back up.
“Get some credible wins.
“Most recently, he’s struggled at an Australian level.
“And has also had some very obvious losses to guys at the top.
“My world title loss, it was a split decision.
“Seven rounds to five.
“It was close, and shows that I am world class.
“But what I’ve seen from him, I don’t see world class.
“So until he proves that, nah, I don’t see us fighting.
“Not until he has something to bring to the table.”
