Kim Kardashian and her famous siblings are weighing in on their future with the streamer Hulu after wrapping up season six of their eponymous reality series earlier this month.
Though Disney claimed the series had scored stellar ratings with the premiere of season five in 2024, fans have been vocally turned off by the reality show’s ‘dull’ storylines in the latest season.
But the reality icons are doubling down on their connection with Hulu, as Disney announced plans for a Kardashians spinoff on Tuesday.
Executive VP Rob Mills, the head of Disney’s unscripted unit, revealed that the famous family is developing a new series titled Calabasas Behind The Gates, according to Deadline.
The show, whose title references the upscale LA County city were many of the Kardashian–Jenner clan members live, will also air on Hulu, which is owned by Disney.
Khloé Kardashian, who joined her costar Scott Disick and Mills to reveal the news at Hulu’s Get Real House event, gushed that the spinoff series would be ‘very exciting, very new, very excellent,’ according to People.

‘We’re excited to continue developing,’ she added.
Mills said ‘We all want to know what’s happening behind the gates of Calabasas,’ and the new series will answer the question of ‘who are all these people in the extended lives of the Kardashians?’
The Khloé In Wonder Land host added that fans of The Kardashians will get to learn about their close friends and neighbors.
So far, it’s unclear if producers have specific stars in mind for the show, or if they’ll follow a more traditional reality series route and find unknowns with enough charisma — and drama — to sustain a show.
However, Khloé and her siblings have all introduced some of their close friends on their flagship show and the earlier Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and they might be logical figures to be featured on Calabasas Behind The Gates.
However, she wasn’t willing to say whether her famous family would be appearing on the spinoff series, and Scott was also mum on whether or not he would be involved.
Disick, who shares three children with his ex Kourtney Kardashian, has increasingly been relegated to the sidelines ever since she began a relationship with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, whom she married in 2022 and later welcomed a fourth child with.
His decreased screen time on the flagship show might put him in a prime position to be heavily featured in the new series, though he didn’t weigh in on the possibility.

In addition to weighing in on the new show, Khloé admitted she hoped to see the return of a familiar figure to the Kardashians — her brother Rob (L), who made a rare appearance in family Easter photos over the weekend
The British production company Fulwell73, which produces The Kardashians, will also be taking the lead on the upcoming series.
Family matriarch Kris Jenner and her four daughters — Kim, Kourtney, Khloé, Kylie and Kendall — are all executive producers on the series as well.
In addition to weighing in on the new show, Khloé admitted she hoped to see the return of a familiar figure to the Kardashians — her brother Rob.
‘I really do,’ Khloé said. ‘I always have my faith and confidence in Rob.’
The most reclusive member of the Kardashian–Jenner clan recently popped up in Easter photos of the whole gang, but he has largely avoided being on-screen after the early seasons of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
Khloé also gave fans some behind-the-scenes insights about The Kardashians at the event.
She clarified that the family members are all paid equally, even though some of the women contribute more of the show’s blockbuster storylines.
The Good American co-founder also revealed that she and her family members have creative control over the reality series and have the ability to ax details that they don’t want shared publicly.

The show had a rough start to season six when fans wonder why it ‘still exist[s]’ and moaned that ‘absolutely no one asked for this’
‘But it’s more vanity things that we would cut,’ she added.
Khloé also shared the reality segment that she’s most embarrassed to have filmed even more than a decade later.
‘I cringe when I have to see me naked in a bath of candy,’ she said of an infamous 2010 scene from KUWTK in which her friend Malika Haqq helped fill up a tub with candy while she posed in the nude and tried to film a sexy message for then-husband Lamar Odom — with her close friend filming the unbearably awkward exchange.
‘I cannot stand that I got Malika, I let Malika do that to me,’ Khloé jokingly admitted.
Despite the fan revolt against season six of The Kardashians, the series will be back for at least a seventh season.
Hulu previously renewed the show for a sixth and seventh in July 2024, just months after Disney bragged about the solid ratings for season five’s premiere.
However, streaming numbers are only made available when Disney chooses to release them, and the company notably didn’t make the same kind of rapturous announcement this season that it did after the season five premiere.
Season six got off to a rough start after fans were unmoved by the show’s trailer early this year.
‘Why does this show still exist? It’s the same tired drama, the same shallow storylines, and the same overblown sense of importance. The fact that this garbage is still getting airtime is a testament to how far reality TV has fallen,’ one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Another wrote: ‘Absolutely no one asked for this, or cares.’
Others opined that the show had become ‘dull,’ though some X users were more optimistic about season six.
