A Milwaukee meteorologist who spoke out against Elon Musk’s “Nazi” salute has since parted ways with CBS affiliate WDJT-TV.

“Meteorologist Sam Kuffel is no longer employed at CBS58,” news director Jessie Garcia wrote in a staff memo Wednesday obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “A search for a replacement is underway.”

Kuffel’s profile has been removed from the news station’s website. According to her LinkedIn account, Kuffel worked at CBS 58 since December 2019.

In an Instagram story later posted to X by conservative radio host Dan O’Donnell, Kuffel captioned an image of Musk, “Dude Nazi saluted twice. TWICE. During the inauguration. You f–k with this and this man, I don’t f–k with you. Full stop.”

In a second story, she posted a GIF from a scene in the sitcom It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia where a character says, “Screw that old b—h. He’s a Nazi.”

Kuffel’s exit from CBS58 has since been criticized by users on X who have accused the station of violating her freedom of expression.

In a reply to one story posted on X by CBS58 that quoted an immigration lawyer saying that “people have rights” amid President Donald Trump’s plans for mass deportations, one user wrote, “People also have the right to condemn Nazi salutes without being fired.”

CBS58 did not respond to a request for comment from the Daily Beast.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reached out to Kuffel but did not hear back.
