Hoda Kotb’s connection with Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager goes way beyond the walls of studio 1A.

Kotb, who announced on Sept. 26 that she would be departing the Today show after 17 years, leads NBC’s morning show with Guthrie, as well as co-hosts Today‘s fourth hour with Bush Hager. In addition to working together, though, the trio of women has taken their relationship off camera and have become dear friends. Tearful Announcement

When Kotb shared the news that she was going to step away from her role on the Today show until 2025, Bush Hager and Guthrie were right by her side with their hands on her lap as all three women wiped away tears. Guthrie cried off her false eyelashes, while Bush Hager wept as she recalled the first time she and Kotb connected.

As is tradition on the Today show, the team went for a theme on Halloween morning in 2023. While Guthrie dressed as Taylor Swift, Kotb and Bush Hager went as a duo, doing their best portrayal of Sonny and Cher.

For Kotb’s 60th birthday this summer, Bush Hager presented a heartfelt gift to her friend and cohost on air, painted by none other than her dad, former President George W. Bush.

“I know how much your girls mean to you,” Bush Hager said during the tearful moment. “I had my dad, who has started painting, paint your favorite photo of you holding your girls.”

After welcoming her first baby, daughter Haley via adoption, “aunt Savannah” was on deck to help Kotb with her new mommy duties.
