One of Hoda Kotb’s daughters had a fishing accident, are Hope and Haley okay?

Hoda Kotb is staying true to her promise of giving her daughters more of her time following her exit from Today.

On Monday, Feb. 17, the former broadcaster, 60, shared pictures on her Instagram of her and her daughters Hope Catherine, 4, and Haley Joy, 8, enjoying a calm day outdoors fishing together. In the post, she shared a video of her daughter’s excited reaction to catching a fish.

“Look at me go!” Hope said as Kotb pulled the fish out of the water.

“Wait… whaaaattt— each of my girls caught a fish today!!” Kotb wrote in the caption. “#wow threw em back— but what a thrill!”

Kotb’s focus shifted from work to family in September 2024 when she announced her departure from Today as co-anchor. The proud mom said that her daughters “need and deserve a bigger slice of my time pie.”

For Kotb, building her life around her children has brought a greater joy than she could have imagined. The mom of two welcomed her children through adoption in 2017 at 52 years old, after a breast cancer battle and a subsequent divorce left her assuming motherhood wasn’t in the cards.

“Family to me is everything— and having one of my own is something I never thought I’d have,” she shared with PEOPLE.

“I always imagined family as my mom, my dad, my brother, my sister,” she explained. “I envisioned it that way until I was 50. Imagine someone saying, ‘Hey, guess what? You’re actually going to have a whole other family.’ It still surprises me! It delights me to know that I have Haley and Hope.”

Kotb shares Haley and Hope with her ex-fiancé Joel Schiffman. Although the former couple called off their engagement in early 2022, they still maintain a healthy co-parenting dynamic.

“I have two incredible children I share with him. And it’s because of Joel that I have Haley and Hope, without question,” she shared with PEOPLE. “I think I might have been too afraid to do it alone.”

As of February 20, 2025, there have been no reports indicating that Hoda Kotb’s daughters, Hope and Haley, have been involved in any fishing accident. In fact, recent news highlights positive moments, such as Kotb sharing photos of her daughters enjoying a fishing trip together.

In February 2023, Kotb’s youngest daughter, Hope, experienced a health crisis that required medical attention. However, she has since been reported to be thriving and improving.

Therefore, based on the available information, both Hope and Haley are doing well.
