Back in January 2024, the Raging Bull of Sant’Agata Bolognese said that Huracan clocked more than 25,000 sales over its production life cycle. Revealed in March 2014 at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland, the successor to the Gallardo is Lamborghini’s best-selling midship yet.
Not long now, the Huracan will be discontinued in favor of a yet-unnamed supercar. Internally referred to as LB63x, the newcomer is expected to be called Temerario. The Italian automaker trademarked this moniker with the European Union’s Intellectual Property Office on April 2 under no fewer than five classes, including 12 for automobiles, 14 for watches and clocks, 25 for clothing, and class 28 for toy cars, scale models, and everything in between.
The manufacturer’s Direzione Cor Tauri product strategy plan reveals that Lamborghini will debut said model in 2024. More recently, the Raging Bull confirmed a debut for the second half of 2024, meaning that LB63x/Temerario will hit dealer showrooms for model year 2025. According to British motoring publication Autocar, we’ll see Lamborghini’s new mid-engine thriller in August.
Lamborghini head of sales and marketing Federico Foschini told Autocar that hybridization is on the menu, although Foschini did not go into the finest of details. From a visual standpoint, head of design Mitja Borkert said that LB63x/Temerario follows in the footsteps of the flagship Revuelto while staying true to Lambo’s modern styling hallmarks.
The bad news? Prepare to bid farewell to the Audi-developed V10 we all know and love. A different animal from the 5.0-liter unit developed by Lamborghini for the Gallardo, the 5.2-liter engine uses FSI technology rather than multi-point indirect fuel injection. We also have to remember that Lambo’s original V10 sports an even 72-degree firing order as opposed to uneven intervals of 90 and 54 degrees for the newer and slightly larger engine.

The cited publication isn’t sure whether the plug-in hybrid supercar’s twin-turbocharged V8 is derived from the lump used in Volkswagen Group vehicles based on the MSB and MLB platforms or something completely different. Considering that Lamborghini went for the Revuelto’s platform, the V8 in question could be very well based on the Revuelto’s V12.
On the other hand, bear in mind that Volkswagen Group has updated the aforementioned 4.0-liter V8 for the likes of the Urus SE and Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid. Pouring millions over millions of euros into a different engine for the Huracan’s replacement sounds a bit foolish when the German colossus already has a sufficiently powerful V8 engine.
Another detail we’re not exactly sure in regard to the 2025 Lamborghini Temerario is the number of electric drive units and how the dual-clutch transmission is mounted relative to the engine. Given the Revuelto’s monofuselage chassis, an eight-speed transaxle mounted transversely behind the V8 seems to be the most plausible scenario.
The Revuelto uses a Mahle-supplied rear motor and two front motors from YASA. Because Huracan came in rear- and all-wheel-drive specs, there is a high probability that LB63x/Temerario will be rear-wheel drive by default and all-wheel drive by choice. All-wheel drive would also help the Lambo stand out from the Ferrari 296 series and the McLaren Artura, which are RWD exclusively.
