Mercedes-AMG E63 Sedan Generations: Everything You Need To Know In One Place

While the W211 E-Class went on sale in the US in 2002, the first of the Mercedes-AMG E63 Sedan generations would appear at the time of the E’s 2007 mid-cycle refresh; up to this point the quickest AMG-badged E was the E55. With an AMG-designed naturally aspirated 6.2L engine, the most hard-core E-Class was a heavy hitter, and very quick.

The redesigned MY2010 W212 continued the tradition with more power, but the facelifted 2014 W212 lost the naturally aspirated 6.2L engine to a smaller twin-turbo 5.5L V8 with even more power and AWD. The engine would be downsized even further to 4.0L for the W213, but power was more than ever at 603 hp. The latest of the AMG E63 generations is still in the pipeline.

The last E63 model year would be 2021, with the performance trim carrying over the same 603-hp V8 powertrain in facelifted format.

There was also an E63 S with 577 hp, with the regular 550-hp E63 discontinued for MY2016.
