Selena Gomez’s fiancé Benny Blanco shared some surprising information about his showering habits, telling Interview Magazine that he “might not get to do it every day,” so he makes the most of it when he does.

The music producer, who became engaged to Gomez in December, made the comments with Gomez by his side in a TikTok posted to Interview’s account. Even though Blanco doesn’t “get” to shower daily, “when I do, when I feel like I deserve it, I’m in there for so long contemplating life,” he says. To bolster the experience, he tells the magazine, “I sit down in every shower I go into.”

Blanco then turns the conversation to a topic his famous fiancée has been criticized for recently: crying.

“Have you ever cried in the shower? It’s incredible,” he says to the camera, and then to Gomez, who only laughs in response. “Sometimes you just have to have a good cry,” he says, going on to explain that he gets “death realizations when I’m in the shower.” Gomez remains silent as Blanco explains, “No, like, I realize I’m gonna die, but it’s in the shower and then I cry about it a little bit, and then it goes away, and then I feel great because [of] the warm water.”

Crying was an odd topic for Blanco to bring up, considering MAGA supporters—and the White House—have targeted Gomez for a video she posted to Instagram that showed her crying as she discussed Donald Trump’s mass deportations. Gomez ultimately deleted the post and later wrote in an Instagram story, “Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people.”

She kept mostly mum on the crying topic during the interview with Blanco, but she did admit that she cries the most between the two of them. Then Blanco shed even more light. “She cries always, like if she sees any video early in the morning that’s like a dog, a child,” he says as Gomez chimes in with “a grandparent” or “some hybrid of all three that we’ve never even seen before,” he adds.
