White Chicks 2: What The Wayans Brothers Have Said, Plot Possibilities & Everything We Know

The Wayans brothers’ 2004 comedy White Chicks has become a cult classic nearly two decades after its release, but despite the acclaim it’s slowly gained there still isn’t a White Chicks 2. However, the demand for a White Chicks sequel has only increased over time as the movie went from an underrated gem to a comedy classic, and conversations about whether the Wayans will return for White Chicks 2 refuse to die down. Marlon and Shawn Wayans are known for their comedic movies, especially during the ’00s. While White Chicks wasn’t loved upon release, it has become something of a cult phenomenon, talked about as often as their Scary Movie spoofs of the horror genre.

White Chicks saw the two brothers as undercover FBI agents called in to stop a kidnapping plot of two white heiresses. The two black men go undercover in full whiteface and impersonate the heiresses to uncover who is behind the plot — with hilarious results. While many of the jokes are problematic by modern standards, White Chicks (much like its controversial ’00s cousin Tropic Thunder) was a clear satire of the standards of the time. The buddy comedy features a fun mystery for the audience to unravel and also features a great cast that includes Busy Phillips and Terry Crews, both of whom have been interested in reprising their roles in White Chicks 2.

The Latest White Chicks 2 News

While there hasn’t been much in the way of solid White Chicks 2 news, the Wayans brothers have openly discussed their thoughts on a sequel over the years, including recently. Marlon Wayans joined the hosts of Revolt’s “Drink Champs” in early 2023 for an interview. The conversation covered his standup, the future of his career, and even some of his now-classic comedies. As a result, fans got some White Chicks 2 news out of the interview. Wayans admitted that he would be willing to do another White Chicks or Scary Movie chapter but on one condition.

Wayans told the hosts, “If we do White Chicks, it gotta be me and Shawn [Wayans]… we’ll see. I don’t throw that into the universe because I don’t control it. But I would do a White Chicks 2. I think that, and I would return to the Scary Movie franchise.” His words indicate that whether or not White Chicks 2 actually gets made might be more up to the studios and producers involved than it would be him and other actors who wish to be involved.

Though both White Chicks and Scary Movie are thought to be products of the Wayans brothers’ imaginations simply, there are a lot of other people involved in the making of those movies. Contract negotiations would need to be done through Sony, which ultimately owns the original movie.

White Chicks 2 Is Unconfirmed

Despite interest from fans and actors, there has been no official confirmation that White Chicks 2 is in development at Sony. While it’s unclear if White Chicks 2 will actually happen, it certainly seems likely, at least in the sense that all the major players want it to. Co-star and co-writer Marlon Wayans has repeatedly expressed interest in making a White Chicks 2 over the years, and defended the jokes in the original White Chicks. In 2019, Terry Crews — who played the original’s most memorable supporting role — revealed that a sequel was happening. Unfortunately for fans, Marlon then backpedaled on that, saying the deal wasn’t done yet. Still, that confirms that talks are at least taking place.

White Chicks 2 Cast

At this early stage of pre-development, the only two cast members that seem like a lock to return for White Chicks 2 are stars Shawn and Marlon Wayans. After all, there would be significantly less interest in a White Chicks sequel without them, and Marlon Wayans has made it clear he won’t do the movie without Shawn Wayans. Terry Crews certainly appears ready to come back and reprise Latrell Spencer, and Busy Phillips also expressed interest in returning as Karen Googlestein. (Phillips even famously brought several cast members together for a recreation of their dance battle on her talk show in 2019.) The cast was full of current and future notables though, so it’s hard to guess who else will opt to return.

One of the previous sticking points for Marlon Wayans when asked about White Chicks 2 was the amount of time in the makeup chair. In order to transform the actor into a white woman, there was a long process for makeup, prosthetics, and wig application. He was not eager to do that, even telling GQ during the production of their Iconic Characters series that he wouldn’t do it unless makeup could be done digitally. In the age of CGI, that’s definitely a possibility.

Terry Crews, on the other hand, has been all-on on White Chicks 2 for a while. He’s been discussing the possibility in interviews since 2019. He even joked on a red-carpet interview with E! in 2023 that he and Vanessa Carlton, whose “A Thousand Miles” he covered for the movie, have stayed in touch. He added, “I’m ready when they call me, 100 percent.” Could the White Chicks 2 cast rely on the Wayans brothers, Crews, and Phillips to move forward? Absolutely.

White Chicks 2 Story Details

Considering that the first White Chicks ended its particular story pretty conclusively, it’s unclear what the setup could be for White Chicks 2. That said, Shawn and Marlon Wayans will no doubt come up with something if they really want to make the sequel. To fit with the basic premise though, FBI agent brothers Kevin and Marcus Copeland would obviously at least need to end up disguised as white women for some reason, although it needing to be the Wilson sisters again might stretch believability. There could be any number of reasons for the dup to go undercover in White Chicks 2, and the funnier the reason, the better for the audience.
