The honeymoon period may already be over for Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster, according to an insider who claims the theatre star has been struggling with the realities of being with the A-lister.

Sutton Foster is reportedly struggling with the pressure of being the new girlfriend of Hugh Jackman.

The Broadway stars first met in 2008 through theatre circles but only first worked together in 2021 for The Music Man.

At the time, both were married- Jackman to Deborra-Lee Furness and Foster to Ted Griffin – but their professional bond eventually evolved into something more.

In January, after both had ended their long-term marriages, they made their romance public.

However, just weeks later, Jackman, 56, left for Northern Ireland to film The Death of Robin Hood, reportedly leaving Foster feeling the pressure.

His departure comes amid claims that his 69-year-old ex-wife has been telling friends their relationship is unlikely to last.

Now, a close friend of Foster, 49, claims the scrutiny surrounding their relationship is becoming overwhelming.

“Hugh and Sutton are completely in love and relieved they don’t have to hide it anymore, but unfortunately for Sutton, it’s come with a whole host of other problems,” the friend told Woman’s Day.

“And Hugh being on the other side of the world filming certainly isn’t helping either. The pressure is starting to get to her these days.”

Adding to the strain, the source said Jackman was unhappy when he heard reports he was being labelled as “needy”.

“…But more than that it’s put their romance through its first test – and things are not looking good.”

Jackman and Furness, who ended their 27-year marriage in September 2023, share two adult children, Ava and Max.

Meanwhile, Foster has a seven-year-old daughter, Emily, and is reportedly concerned about how this period of change will affect her.

The insider said Foster, who has largely maintained a private life, is struggling with the level of public scrutiny and is beginning to question whether she was fully prepared for the challenges that come with dating such a high-profile star.

Furness, meanwhile, has been focused on her own future, telling the Herald Sun last month she was looking forward to “chapter three” of her life and considering a return to acting.

“I’ve got some projects in New York. I’m in my chapter three. I’m a creative, I love being creative in a variety of areas and I think I’ll be doing more travelling,” she said.
