The Minnesota Timberwolves young guard’s difficulties are not ending anytime soon. Edwards’ night took a turn for the worse during the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 111-102 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Ejected in the third quarter after receiving his second technical foul, Edwards’ frustration boiled over in a display of poor judgment. Earlier in the game, he had already exchanged words and shoves with Jarred Vanderbilt, the Lakers forward. That scuffle resulted in his first technical foul. The second came after he was whistled for pushing off his defender and then reportedly expressing his displeasure in an inappropriate manner.

This outburst not only cost him the game but also put him on track for a one-game suspension due to reaching 16 technical fouls this season. It’s just crazy, crazy stuff for the speculated next Michael Jordan. As he walked off the court, Edwards let his frustration known by throwing the ball into the stands instead of handing it back to the officials.

This act is likely to result in a fine, adding to his growing list of penalties for inappropriate conduct, including previous fines for using profane language in interviews. While at this point, financial penalties may not bother him, given his recent five-year, $260 million contract. But the real concern for the Timberwolves lies in the impact of his suspension on their playoff aspirations.

Fans Outburst After Anthony Edwards Ejected During Lakers-Wolves Game

The NBA ratings are declining, and everybody knows it. While the league is trying its best to bring excitement back into the game, fans seem to openly have their say on social media. Prior to Anthony Edwards’ ejection against LA, fans were accusing the NBA of being “soft” and calling fouls unnecessarily.

With Edwards sidelined the Timberwolves face a daunting challenge, especially against their next opponent, the Utah Jazz. Although that game is deemed winnable, the Wolves’ offense without Edwards has struggled significantly. They’ve produced a meager 109.9 points per 100 possessions. As they battle for a crucial spot in the Western Conference Play-In, missing their star player during such a pivotal time is a significant setback.
