During the event, Green expressed his disapproval of the Rising Stars Challenge winner’s inclusion in the All-Star Games. He remarked, “These young guys, if they’re on the Rising Stars team, they don’t deserve the privilege of playing on Sunday.” This controversial remark seems out of character for former NBA player and current analyst Charles Barkley.

“Your generation messed the game up, so we have to experiment with the Rising Stars,” Barkley said.
