She left the group in 1997 but started to struggled in 2020

A SINGER from a popular 90s girl band has revealed that she is homeless.
Dawn Robinson, 58, shot to fame in the R&B group En Vogue – but despite her success in the 90s, she is now sleeping in her car and has shared her hopes of turning her life around and relaunching her career.

Known for their hits such as Hold On, Part Of Me, and Just Can’t Stay Away, the hit girl group was formed in Oakland, California, with Dawn front and center.
But years after shooting to stardom, Dawn has now revealed that she is homeless and not on speaking terms with most of her family.
The former En Vogue singer has even shared with her fans how she has been living in her car for the past three years.
Taking to YouTube on Tuesday, Dawn shared a heartbreaking video where she spoke about her situation.
“For the past three years, almost three years, I have been living in my car,” she revealed three minutes into her new video.
“I said it, oh my God, it’s out,” she said.
Dawn went on: “If you guys were with me, what in 2020, I did like 105K interviews and in the interim I was living with my parents in [Las] Vegas and that was wonderful until it wasn’t.
“I love my mom but she became very angry and [she was taking] a lot of her anger out on me,” she said.
“I was her target all the time and I was like, ‘I can’t deal with this.’ Like, I respect her too much. I didn’t understand it I still don’t, It hurt me.”
SLEEPING IN HER CAR IN VEGAS
She explained how she needed to get out of the situation, so started sleeping in her car for about a month while in Vegas.

Dawn then recalled how the guy who was co-managing her at the time told her to move back to LA, so she did.
She moved in with her manager for a short while, before she was put up in a hotel for eight months.
But because living in a hotel wasn’t feasible, Dawn looked into “van life, car life, RV life” and wanted to live life off the grid.
“I ended up in my car, and it’s been like I said, three years,” she said.
Speaking about “car life”, Dawn said: “I felt free. I felt like I was on a camping trip. It just felt like it was the right thing to do.
“But then as I got to know what to do in my car and how to do it, like, how to cover my windows and you don’t talk to certain people.”
She added: “You’re careful of telling people that you’re alone, as a woman especially, and I’m a celebrity [so] I don’t just divulge that to people.”
‘I DIDN’T REGRET IT’
And later said: “I felt like I was on a camping trip. I just felt like it was the right thing to do. I didn’t regret it. You know, a lot of celebrities have lived in their cars.”
Dawn later spoke about “succeeding again” and having a “resurgence” of her career.
She spoke about wanting to release a documentary with Netflix about sleeping in her car and rebuilding her life.
“Am I glad that I did this? Absolutely,” she said.
Dawn then revealed that she has a gym membership and “showers there”.
FANS REACT AND SHOW SUPPORT
One fan commented on the video and said: “You be strong Dawn. With the type of impact you had on the R&B scene back in the day, I was certain your success would have provided for you for the rest of your life. In spite of your current circumstance, i know you will rise above it. God always provides.”
Another then added: “As a partially off-grid tiny home sustainability living musician, I completely agree alternative housing options are valid and important. Including homes that are cars, vans, buses etc. I see you, I am rooting for you!”
While a third penned: “Man, you made En Vogue in my opinion, the most talented, the most beautiful, the most vibrant….do your thing and I pray TMH be with you.”
Her candid confession comes weeks after her former band – En Vogue – announced that they would soon be embarking on a European tour.
EN VOGUE REUNITE
The band members have even spoken recently about how they will be bringing back a different member to the group.
Dawn, who first quit the band in 1997, was a founding member of the band – yet has nothing to do with it today, despite them reforming and heading out on tour.
En Vogue’s original line up consisted of singers Terry Ellis, Dawn Robinson, Cindy Herron, and Maxine Jones.
The band reached No. 2 on the US Hot 100 with the single Hold On, which was taken from their 1990 debut album Born to Sing
