Fox News personality Kat Timpf has shared an emotional revelation—she was diagnosed with breast cancer just 15 hours before giving birth to her first child.

The 36-year-old Gutfeld! co-host made the surprising announcement on Tuesday, revealing that her newborn son may have “saved her life.”

A Shocking Diagnosis Before Motherhood

Timpf and her husband, Cameron Friscia, welcomed their baby last week. But in an unexpected turn of events, just hours before going into labor, doctors informed her that she had breast cancer.

“Now, before you worry, my doctor says it’s Stage 0 and is confident that it almost certainly hasn’t spread,” Timpf reassured her followers in an Instagram post.

“Or, as I’ve explained to the few people I’ve managed to tell about it so far: don’t freak out. It’s just, like, a little bit of cancer.”

A Birth Story Unlike Any Other

Timpf was more than a week past her due date when she gave birth, describing the experience as anything but “chill.” She kept her signature wit even in the face of adversity, sharing that she asked doctors if she could have a copy of her tumor ultrasound to put on the fridge next to her baby’s ultrasound.

“I asked all the questions I could,” she wrote. “Because, you know, that’s who I am.”

She went into labor in the middle of the night and rushed to the hospital, where she finally met her baby boy. But amid the joy of childbirth, she also faced a difficult medical decision—her doctors recommended she undergo a double mastectomy as soon as possible.

“These next three months of maternity leave are going to look a lot different than I’d anticipated,” she admitted, reflecting on the reality of recovering from childbirth while preparing for cancer treatment.

A Life-Saving Twist of Fate

Despite the challenges ahead, Timpf expressed gratitude for early detection and for the new life she brought into the world.

“I’m lucky that we found the cancer so early; I’m lucky to be my son’s mom,” she wrote. “I mean, I know I’m biased, but the little dude absolutely rules—and not just because he might have saved my life.”

She concluded her message with a hopeful note, emphasizing the importance of finding humor and light even in the darkest moments.

Handling Criticism with Strength

Pregnant Kat Timpf points to her name written on a wall.

Timpf has been vocal about the scrutiny she faced throughout her pregnancy. Just days before giving birth, she took to social media to address online trolls who criticized her appearance and questioned her health.

“Hi everyone! I am under the close care of a doctor, and I promise that both of us know and care far more about my health and the health of my own baby than any random online stranger does from just seeing me on TV,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on February 17.

She called out intrusive comments about her pregnancy bump, amniotic fluid, and whether she should be working late into her pregnancy. “I don’t need to be bombarded with comments about how my belly looking this way or that way CLEARLY means I will be needing this or that procedure,” she added.

An Unexpected Journey to Motherhood

Timpf first announced her pregnancy in July, admitting that she never expected to become a mother, especially not naturally at 35.

“I’d prepared myself for every outcome but this one,” she wrote in an emotional Fox News opinion piece. “First, I expected that I wouldn’t get pregnant, especially not naturally. Once I did, I expected that I’d probably miscarry. I mean, I am 35, which makes mine a geriatric pregnancy, medically speaking.”

Facing Negativity with Humor

Throughout her pregnancy, Timpf faced online backlash from people who criticized her for talking too much about her journey to motherhood.

“You know what’s crazy? I really thought that being pregnant would make people be nicer to me,” she told The U.S. Sun in October. “But people are meaner to me now.”

She recalled receiving messages from trolls who complained about hearing her talk about pregnancy. “I get a lot of people telling me to stop talking about it and that they’re sick of hearing about it,” she said.

“I’m like, ‘I’m so sorry that my pregnancy has been hard for you.’ It’s nine months of my life, and then I’m not gonna talk about it anymore.”

Despite the criticism, Timpf remains unapologetic about sharing her journey. “I talk about what’s going on in my life,” she said. And now, with both a newborn and a cancer diagnosis, her story is more compelling than ever.

A New Chapter Begins

As she steps into this new phase of her life—motherhood and cancer treatment—Kat Timpf remains as resilient as ever, proving that even in the face of hardship, she can find strength, humor, and hope.
