What A$AP Rocky & Rihanna Are Naming Their Next Baby After Court Case

A$AP Rocky and Rihanna had some wild thoughts following his legal victory.

After being found not guilty on two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm Feb. 18, the “Fashion Killa” rapper and his longtime girlfriend—who share sons RZA, 2, and Riot, 18 months—made quite the promise to his lawyer Joe Tacopina in recognition of his work on the case.

“They grabbed me and they said, ‘Listen, our next baby A$AP Joe,’ he told Extra in an interview published Feb. 19. “I said, ‘I’m gonna hold you to that!’”

The attorney added that A$AP, 36, also “said some very nice things,” adding, “He told me he loved me and we’re family.”

But it’s what the musician—whose real name is Rakim Mayers—said before the verdict that resonated with Joe the most.

“He didn’t know if he was going to go home and see his two babies that night or start a decade-long prison sentence literally that day,” Joe shared. “He grabbed me and he said, ‘Joe, I want you to know, I know how hard you fought here. I know everything you’ve done, and I just appreciate you so much.’”

Emotions ran high in the courtroom as the overjoyed hip hop star dramatically leapt into the front row of the gallery once the first count was read, embracing Rihanna in a tight hug. But as the couple celebrated, Joe was still focused on the business at hand.

“I told my partner, ‘Get him back here, we have another count,” he recalled. “I’m thinking, ‘My God, if the second count doesn’t go well, this is gonna be embarrassing.’ But of course it did, and I was confident it was going to.’”

Shortly after the proceedings concluded, Rihannashared her relief on social media.

“THE GLORY BELONGS TO GOD AND GOD ALONE!” she wrote in a post on her Instagram Stories. “THANKFUL, HUMBLED BY HIS MERCY!”

The lawyer continued, “It’s obviously a very serious moment for him, and he has the wherewithal and the thought to think, ‘Let me thank this guy.’ It was special that he did that.”
