Jay-Z has opened up about the grave accusations and the severe backlash that followed after he faced claims of an alleged sexual assault on a 13-year-old girl.

The woman who accused Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping her in 2000 when she was a minor has since dropped her lawsuit. In reaction, Jay-Z has decided to take legal action against the accuser’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, suggesting that the allegations were crafted to deeply affect him.

Through an official statement on Roc Nation, Jay-Z declared: “Today is a victory. I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed. The court must protect victims, OF COURSE, while with the same ethical responsibility, the courts must protect the innocent from being accused without a shred of evidence. May the truth prevail for all victims and those falsely accused equally.”

Shawn Carter, more widely known as Jay-Z, detailed the damaging effects the allegations have had according to court files stating: “Social media comments online responding to Mr Buzbee’s public statements about me and accusations against me have caused me harm. For example, people have said ‘I can’t wait until you join (Combs) in prison. Then later in hell. Other comments have accused me of being a ‘satanist,’ a ‘trafficker,’ a ‘terrorist,’ and a ‘monster,’ called me the N-word and threatened violence against me and my wife, including to ‘kill’ or ‘execute’ us.”

In response to these allegations, Jay-Z’s lawyer Alewx Spiro stated on Friday: “The false case against Jay-Z, that never should have been brought, has been dismissed with prejudice. By standing up in the face of heinous and false allegations, Jay has done what few can he pushed back, he never settled, he never paid 1 red penny, he triumphed and cleared his name.”

Jane Doe’s legal representatives, Tony Buzbee and Antigone Curis, announced that the plaintiff “hereby gives notice that the above-captioned Action is voluntarily dismissed, with prejudice.” The term “with prejudice” indicates that the lawsuit cannot be refiled in the future.

Jay-Z and Beyonce are parents to three children – Blue Ivy, born in January 2012, and twins Rumi and Sir Carter, born in June 2017. Jay-Z suggested that the timing of the lawsuit was intentionally harmful. It was filed in December, just before the London premiere of Mufasa: The Lion King, which stars Beyonce and their daughter Blue Ivy.

Jay-Z expressed his feelings about this, writing: “I feel that Mr Buzbee purposely filed this lawsuit on the eve of my daughter’s premiere to put me in the position of having to choose between supporting my daughter or hiding to avoid the negative press coverage.”

He continued: “This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims. I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed.”
