Kim Kardashian accused of ‘shamelessly’ copying Beyoncé as fans say she’s ‘trying to stay relevant’

Kim Kardashian has been accused of ‘shamelessly’ copying Beyoncé’s image, as critics claim the reality TV star is “trying to stay relevant.”

Fashion influencer account Diet Prada has previously pointed out similarities in Kim’s look compared to Beyoncé, including a recent image where Kim adopted blonde hair and dark smokey eye makeup, which appeared similar to a magazine cover shoot featuring Beyoncé. Another image saw Kim adopting a white bodysuit with her hair in a styled top knot, which also appeared to copy a monochrome image of the Crazy In Love singer.

Criticism of Kim’s ever changing image included Reddit users slamming the star as “trying to stay relevant.” One user pointed out: “She’s white, Latino, black… and shamelessly trying to stay relevant.” Another added: “Typical Kim stealing others’ ideas.” A third posted: “And somehow she cheapens everything she does try and do ..it’s like she can’t afford Beyoncé level camera and lighting lol.” Another shared: “Brooooo Is she seriously thinking this is ok.”

In another Reddit thread commenting on the same images from Diet Prada, another user pointed out: “Kim has always wanted to be like Beyoncé and be liked by her.” A second added: “I’m glad i’m not the only one who saw it as a badly-done Beyoncé cosplay.”

Yet not all agreed, as others defended Kim with one posting: “I think it’s Beyonce that’s looking more like Kim every day, and that’s because they all end with the same insta face.” Another shared: “Oh please. It’s Beyonce looking more like Kim.”

The criticism comes as fans also noticed a huge change in Kim’s appearance at a recent SKIMS event, during the grand opening of her flagship Skims store in the Big Apple. While Kim was beaming among her guests at the event, eagle-eyed supporters couldn’t help but comment on the reality star’s altered visage, speculating that a change in makeup could be the culprit. A comment from one sharp observer on social media read, “She did her lips in a new way. She over-lined her lips with brown liner and added lighter lipstick, it’s a “90s thing.” Another chimed in, “Kimmy went wild on her lips, they massive, but it looks cool.”

Some even suggested that Kim’s fresh bangs were to blame for her transforming look, with a remark noting, “She had bangs in her face, made her look like a different person,” reports the Mirror.

Skims, valued at $4 million in 2023, made the leap from online success to brick-and-mortar earlier this year. Skims has secured a coveted spot in NYC, taking over what used to be a Versace boutique right next to a Cartier store, surrounded by big names like Ferragamo, Tag Heuer, and Nike. The flagship store boasts four floors of shape and loungewear, including a special section for collaborations with Dolce and Gabbana and North Face.
